FRENCH Style Magazine featuring French Boiserie panels by K. Salowe & Co.
The current issue of FRENCH Style Magazine hit the newsstands on October 23rd, 2018 in your fine books and magazine stores. I received a call from the editor a few months ago out of the blue offering to do a feature story on my work. Essentially it was an unsolicited offer to feature some beautiful French style paneling and discuss the applications. A lovely writer scheduled to interview me on the telephone and sure enough–the issue is out! I am posting the cover of the 2018 winter issue of French Style and the four pages of the feature story here.
The feature was specifically about French paneling or if you prefer the French; Boiserie. From the French point of view, the term boiserie is defined as paneling made of wood. “Bois” means wood. In the English language, the term has the same meaning but the inference being that it is “French” suggests that it is ornate or decorative. That is arguably not true. I prefer to pretend it must be ornate but now we both know better. I hope you enjoy the article if you have a chance to read it. It speaks of the romance that French paneling can introduce to a space. I have always considered myself to be a romantic. I like to create spaces for people that bring romance into their lives and lifestyles. Ambiance pour faire l’amour! To dine, to bathe in a glorious bathroom surrounded by gorgeousness has to make you feel sexy. Don’t reach for your cigarette just yet, we are not finished here. The lighting: delicate. The furnishings: lush and warm. The music trickling into the space as if from a French café, enveloping your body and soul. Fill your glass of wine, pluck a grape, or better yet, take a bite from the grapevine that is being offered to you from above your head by someone special and just vive!
